Reviews for Wings of Love

Ms. Stone has penned a very touching love story in Wings of Love. Abby and Philip are such wonderful characters that you can't help falling in love with them. The complex characters and beautiful setting draws you even more into the story. The ups and downs of the journey of rebuilding their love grabs at your heart strings and keeps you turning the pages to the very special ending. Her masterful plotting and spicy, heart-warming love scenes gives her books a very unique style. Wings of Love is a must read for those who believe in happily-ever-after. I for one will be standing in line for this very talented authors books. ~Judy Leigh Peters, author of A FATHER'S HOPE

Jewel Stone’s characters are enjoyable. "Wings of Love" grabs you  by the heart and doesn’t let you go until you reach the end. The journey to find a happy-ever-after was enjoyable and the relation-ship struggles of the characters authentic. The setting was  beautifully depicted with just enough detail. Jewel Stone’s writing style is engaging and romantic. She has you right there
with the characters; you feel what they feel, see what they see,  and fall in love with them. "Wings of Love" is one of the best romantic stories I’ve read in a while.  I highly recommend this
story!

Abigail Harper grew up in a protected environment shielded by parents who provided for her every need. When she marries, Philip Gallagher, he assumes the role of her parents-giving her everything she wants… except himself. Philip, a successful reporter, cherishes his job more than he cherishes his wife, and Abby needs more. She needs to know that she matters… that she could be her own person for once in her life. She's tired of being a possession, an attractive arm ornament, and mostly feeling invisible. Leaving a farewell note behind, Abby begins a new life-hoping to find herself.

Philip's boss assigns him the task of finding and interviewing the new, but elusive, romance writer, Desiree Love. If he succeeds, his reward is a news anchor position-another step up the professional ladder. Philip never dreamt he would suffer an auto accident and, by chance, wake up in Abby's home being cared for by her. It's been three years since she left him-three years that he kept everything just as it was when she shared his home. Will Philip make the right decision? Will he stay with Abby or decide that finding and interviewing Desiree Love is more important? His dream of being a news anchorman is at his fingertips.

Wings of Love by Jewel Stone is a very touching romance that captures the essence of sacrifice and compromise. Philip and Abby still love each other with an undying passion, but each have a lesson to learn before they can resume the marriage that was lost among Philip's other priorities. The story is delightfully told, with vivid descriptions that draw you into the scenes and make you feel the emotions. Abby isn't the same person she was before, and Philip likes the new and improved version. His quest to win her back is something of which women's dreams are made. Jewel Stone has penned a winner. I recommend you curl up and read Wings of Love.

Who is the elusive romance writer, Desiree Love? That is exactly what reporter Philip Gallagher intends to find out. This is the story that will make his entire career and it will be his. Or so he thought, until he finds himself half-dead in a blizzard on the doorstep of his estranged wife, Abigail, whom he has not seen in three years. When he awakens and sees her, he knows his love for her never died, and it is only growing stronger.

Abigail Harper has been doing a lot of growing up over the last three years. She's her own woman now and can take care of herself. It's been three years since she walked away from Philip. Imagine her surprise to find her husband half-dead on her cabin porch in the middle of winter. She is afraid he will die, and knows she still loves him. The time they spend together in this little snowed-in cabin brings them closer than they ever thought possible, but can there be happy endings in real life? Ask Desiree Love....

I simply LOVED this book...... I cried with joy for the characters, I cried with their pain. I truly felt what they were feeling. My heart pounded with excitement and anticipation to see what would happen next. Contemporary Romance is not my usual genre so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Wings of Love. I highly recommend this book to others.

Abigail Harper Gallagher thought she closed the door on her past when she walked out on her marriage after three years.  Phillip Gallagher was the love of her life, her husband and only lover, but she could not bear playing second fiddle to his work.  Having only the remnants of him left over at the end of his day is not enough for Abigail.  She leaves New York City, makes a cleaner, fuller life for herself in the Cascade Mountains, and becomes the best selling novelist, Desiree Love.

When Phillip turns up on the doorstep of her mountain home, near death from exposure after his SUV slides off the road, Abigail believes he's come in search of her.  And Phillip still adores the very air she breathes.  Neither has filed for divorce.  They ARE still married after all and snowed in together.  So, nature takes a most delightful course for several weeks.  Making love and plenty of it is all they have to fill their nights and days as snow piles up outside.  It's idyllic, until old hurts and misunderstandings resurface and Abigail figures out that Phillip is in the mountains looking for Desiree Love, not her.  His career is back at center stage and the lovers' life resumes its rocky path.

This well written romance has terrific characters.  Phillip is to die for, but can he prove to Abigail that she's more important than his job aspirations?  And Abigail is the epitome of a young innocent girl who has matured into a self sustaining woman.  Can she maintain her momentum without Phillip, especially after he comes back into her life with such heated devotion?  I suggest you read the book if you want answers.

Wings of Love is for mature readers due to the strong sexual content that drives this romance.

Abigail Harper knew the man she discovered four days ago, unconscious and on the verge of hypothermia on her cabin's porch--Philip Gallagher.  Philip had been her first love, her only lover and the husband she left behind three years ago when she fled New York City to the wilderness of the Cascade Mountains.  Living on her own, she had become self sufficient, rather the being the sweet, pampered daughter of a New York tycoon suffering from her parents death then immediately becoming the wife of a successful journalist. Writing under the pen name of Desiree Love for the last three years, Abby's books had taken the literary world by storm and soared to the best-seller list.  Her popularity was in part fueled by the fact no one knew where and where Desiree Love was.

Philip Gallagher was following a solid lead. He had learned the location of Desiree Love and would do what it took to bring back this story to his paper, The American Times.  What he wasn't prepared for was a blizzard--a major whiteout and racking up his Suburban against a tree in the middle of nowhere.   He also wasn't prepared to find the cabin of his estranged wife.  Philip had never stopped loving Abby, now snowbound and cut off from everything and everyone, he discovers how much his love has grown for her and she's still in love with him.

Abby and Philip succumb to their passions, with days and nights of steamy hot lovemaking and working out what went wrong in their marriage.  That is until, his editor, Sidney Porter, heads up a rescue team.  The truth comes out about who Philip was really searching for and a wedge of mistrust is again driven between them.

Author, Jewel Stone, has created a beautiful love story, with Abby and Philip emerging as well rounded and complex characters, set against fabulously unique settings. Wings of Love, is the up and down journey of two people who found they could overcome any obstacle to make their marriage work.  Once again, Ms. Stone's readers will not be disappointed.  A definite must-read.

WINGS OF LOVE...Jewel Stone

Can two people who can't see eye-to-eye find their way back together again? Abby and Philip had what seemed an ideal life until Abby left him and disappeared. Three years later, Abby opens the door of her Washington mountain home in the middle of a blizzard, to find her husband, Philip, passed out on her doorstep. Abby cares for him, nursing his wounds and contemplating their tumultuous relationship. She is thrilled he finally took the time from his busy life as a reporter to find her and rekindle their love. Neither one ever filed for divorce, and both still have feelings for the other. What Abby doesn't know is that Philip is there in search of the mysterious romance novelist, Desiree Love, in order to write an exposé. Finding Abby is an unexpected bonus. But Philip doesn't know that Abby is Desiree Love, and she has changed since she left him in New York.

The two spend three weeks snowed in, renewing their romance and intimacy. When the sheriff is finally able to reach them, Abby's identity as Desiree Love is revealed and sets off an avalanche of problems and struggles for the newly reunited couple. Can they find common ground with their careers and their marriage? Is there any real depth to their relationship or is it just physical attraction? Will Philip ever see past his ambition and give himself fully to Abby?

WINGS OF LOVE is a steamy ride where the reader roots for true love to win. The characters of Philip and Abby are well defined, and stay true to their convictions. Never does one sacrifice their dreams and goals for the other, yet they find a way to overcome those struggles and discover ultimate happiness. There is a large amount of conflict between the main characters but the conclusion is satisfying and hopeful.

At times, the strife seemed to drag on, and I felt like I was reading the same controversy over and over: Philip can't let go of his career and Abby can't accept less than full attention from him. This is eventually resolved, but it seemed to take forever to get to that point. The ending is quite unique, though, and the epilogue is set many years in the future, which is an interesting twist.

Overall, I enjoyed WINGS OF LOVE and am delighted that Abby and Philip are a married couple struggling to stay together. It is refreshing to read about people fighting for their marriage in a world of throw-away commitment. I recommend WINGS OF LOVE, a hopeful and fulfilling story with loads of hot, spicy romance. WINGS OF LOVE

Jewel Stone

New York newspaper reporter Phillip Gallagher is working on the hottest story in America. He's on the trail of the elusive novelist, Desiree Love. Love's novels appeared out of nowhere and have dominated the best-seller lists for over three years, but no one has ever seen the author. Phillip believes that he has information that will lead him to the story that will make his career.

Abigail Harper is living happily in an isolated cabin in the Cascade Mountains. One evening, in the middle of a fierce blizzard, she hears a knock on her door. She finds a man, passed out and half-frozen on her doorstep. After bringing him inside, she discovers, to her shock, that the man is none other than Phillip Gallagher, her husband. Several years ago, she left Phillip, leaving him only a letter as explanation. She believes that Phillip has crossed the country and risked his life to find her. He's so happy to see her when he regains consciousness that he does nothing to dispel this assumption.

Much of this novel involves the details of two people trying to work out their relationship. It is clear that there was little or no communication during the marriage; and often implied that there is a substantial age gap between the two. Abigail believes her letter explained everything; Phillip believes it explained nothing at all. I had a hard time believing that two people who profess to love each other so much would just let three years go by without once trying to contact one another. On the other hand, this seems to be a fairly accurate depiction of the toll an all-consuming career can take on a relationship. For readers who enjoy tear-jerkers and second-chance stories, this is a find.
